EOC: Intellectual Property

Intellectual Property has been referred to as the “Creation of the human mind.” With that being said, Intellectual property is important because it protects various rights, and ideas.  Both categories of IP which include, Industrial property and copyright play an important role.  The entire process of obtaining a copyright can be a bit of a pain, but it is vital in order for an idea to be marked as valuable property.  Obtaining knowledge about intellectual property is definitely a must; this can help in order to keep disputes to a minimum.  Like anything else, a copyright does not continue indefinitely. The process is continually managed upon the tangible form of the idea. Both Copyrights and patents are protected by the U.S. Constitution.

There are many things that are created every day, IP is definitely something that is over looked and taken for granted.  To be educated in the many processes can prepare a creative professional for a successful future.  In the event that a patent is going to be obtained, it is important to follow a few basic steps in the IP process.  While there are many categories, it is important to place an idea, invention in order to file for protection.  It is also important to seek some legal counsel.  A business plan is always a good start in order to keep within a realistic perspective.  An idea is not to be taken lightly; if you can believe it you can achieve it.
